Regular columns on men's issues Download Pdf

Share
Hindustan Times has been a premier media house voicing the concerns of men's rights organizations like Save Indian Family Foundation. Today, expectations from men have increased beyond acceptable levels and are skyrocketing, on the other hand, acceptance levels for men's problems are nosediving.

How about HT introducing regular columns/editorials, etc. targeting various issues regarding men? Save Indian Family Foundation, All India Men's Welfare Association and related men's NGOs would be more than happy to share their research on men in case HT takes the initiative.

Thanks in advance.

82% Icome tax paid by men in India, why not regular columns on issues regarding men?
by User_nail_photo Four98a 9 months ago
WE should have more and more columns like this and show the society real conditions of Indian men.. They have became slave and first they live for parents, then wife and then children... When they will live for their selves?? on top of this always falsely charged with rape/ molestation and dowry harrassment cases.. which is 100% false. Men are paying 82% tax still they don't have any protection in this country...
by User_nail_photo Atitrajpara 9 months ago
a warm welcome to this idea. its the need of the changing time because now the women are much more powerful and they are misusing their power for harassment of men.i hope that this column will create some awareness about our problems.
thnx in advance.

Until now all organisations be it private or public have spend time and effort on men only for grabbing money from them. HT may be the first of its kind if this study ever happens. A very nice initiative.

Well, if men's issues and choices in men's lives and relationship issues are discussed, that will benefit everyone, including women.

Till now, men were pigeonholed into sports, politics, social issues etc. Discussion on Men, their life, their perspectives on relationship issues will open new possibilities for every one, ie. men, women, children and families.

I am inspired, if HT starts this.
by User_nail_photo Anil123 9 months ago
Men's rights violation is on the rise. Men's right obliteration is the agenda of many vested interests, we need to oppose this and its the best time for HT to stand for this right cause.

If the news media wants to continue showing the world that it is unbiased, men's issues must also be given its due coverage in a definitive way

Media has a big hand in tarnishing Men's image over the years and portraying them as demons.

--- It's TIME ---
Media should stop demonizing Men. Understand their issues instead of resorting to Men bashing all the time.
Media should present both sides of coin instead of sensationalizing stories and biased reporting siding with women's side of story alone.
by User_nail_photo Gabhishek Ti 9 months ago
in such efforts all media must be participated and helps man for their true fight instead of women.

Yes , i would switch over to HT if this is started. Today you ask about women's problems and the list is endless while no one even bothers to ask men about their problems.

HT must start this initiative at the earliest. A mens only section discussing problems , recommendations only about men . Men have contributed enough to the society and the country and it is time they expect to get something back .

If men's issues are discussed, that will benefit everyone in the society, including women, children & the nation.

HT must start this initiative without hesitations. A men's only section > discussiens, problems , recommendations - only about men . Men are contributing 90% to the society and the nation, and their due must be given to them.

I am happy that HT is listening ! for the Media should present unbiased reports & stories, and encourage positive strength & qualities of men.(and women)

I appreciate the IDEA, it's now high time to take initiatives, actions and stand for INDIAN MEN.
[NEED]: To provide equal rights to INDIAN WOMEN the lawmakers & politicians have just messed up the situation and today we see the massive misuse of women centric laws by woman (specially the daughter-in-laws) in the name of harrassment by Domestic Violence (DV) and Dowry Laws (498a law) BUT ....they forget that with these laws along with MEN the sufferers are WOMEN too as the Mother-In-law, sister-in-law etc females from husband's family get tortured by misuse of law. After this there is mostly no peace and families break AND the main purpose of providing protection, justice to a Woman (misusing law) fails anyways as she herself ruins her life with effect of her parents mainly.

Where is our country going? This was not the life I had thought of even after paying proper taxes helping others and doing good for my country. Look at the NCRB statistics for the misuse of 498a and DV laws, anyone will be surprised.

What we have gained by making the Indian women independent and supported them to match our shoulders? Now the educated woman is instead of making peace and Harmony in the family is ruining it and misusing the law.I am not against women but this is the TRUTH.
We respect WOMAN and would be happy to see them successful but not at the cost of innocent peoples life's.

Like lakhs of families I too have suffered when my wife misused laws and the system and ruined mine and specially her life.

I support the very thought of a column for MEN's Issue.

Thanks & Good Luck for spreading the awareness.

For thousands of years men are reduced to the role of castrated bullocks by the society. Soon there is a day the role of men will be that of Stud Bull requiring to donate Sperms.
The society should wake up to ensure that men are not added to the endangered spieces

Why ignore the eunuchs then? They too need that acceptance in the society?

Besides how is this idea gonna help Hindustan Times become a better newspaper. It's a social issue that should be taken care of by the government.

This is not an appropriate forum for this. Men's issue like "where to invest your hard earned money, how to educate oneself etc. is already being published by HT. There is enough value in the newspapers today to remain competent men with ample knowledge.

WELL THOUGHT IDEA.
It is the desperate need of the hour to bring the reality to the fore
by User_nail_photo Tuartmax 9 months ago
"Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them."

The above is a quote of Henry David Thoreau, who observed that most men are enslaved to their work and to those for whom they work. True to his words, everyday,

• Men protect and provide for families.
• Men render many services that make the society comfortable for everyone.
• Men make many contributions to science, technology and health of all.
• Men perform the most dangerous and difficult jobs in the world.
• Men take risks and die to save other lives during calamities and war.

Every day and everywhere, as we are busy idolizing movie stars, athletes and other celebrities as role models, the common men around us - the academic achievers, social leaders, champions of the environment, artists, comedians, soldiers, farmers, fishermen, fire fighters, and those more humble males who, on a daily basis, clean our streets, build our houses, fix our vehicles, police our streets, deliver newspapers and milk, and care for children – dedicate themselves to their work and continue to serve everyone.

Every day, men face many of the same problems that women do. These include physical and emotional health issues, work related stress, financial difficulties, problems with family and relationships, and more serious problems like domestic violence, harassment at workplace and sexual abuse. In addition, they suffer legal harassment, financial abuse and forced separation from children through women-centric laws.

Men are conditioned to stifle their emotions and endure pain without complaining. Men hesitate to express themselves for the fear of being ridiculed or discredited.

It is time to initiate public discussion through special a special column for men in newspapers.

But consider this: Lacs of women are protected by enforcement of such a law! Only few men are affected by it. Do you have the numbers to present your case to the Government?

Government has an interest: vote bank. Do you in anyway coincide with its interest? And why would the Government not want to protect women, even if it is at the cost of few men? Any reply with numbers to support

Do you all understand the game of numbers?
How will you manage getting genuinely affected people to support your idea over here? I'd say it's important to remain positive also.

Hope the law of the land balances soon enough, and protectively for both the genders.
by User_nail_photo Djohn 9 months ago
Why are you so much considered about women? When was the last time you talked about men?

Have you ever made any effort to know what men undergo?

Lacs of women are protected by enforcement of such a law!

Exactly and lacs of such men are castrated against whom these women file these complaints in order to harass those men and extort them and then there are eunuch supporters like you.

Why should we give numbers to the Govt. It is the Govt's duty to protect its men and they should fund studies to study men's issues?

We know for a fact that men are lot more abused than women and their abuse is either suppressed or trivialized at best because of eunuchs like you.

If your hardwired brain does not register data about abuse of men, then first rewire it and then talk here.

All data about abuse of men is available on the internet.

Rather than pouring your frustration here, go and search on the net and find it for your self as to why is such an idea floated.

There are several such ills in our society, which need to be dealt. The most important being dealing of both politicians and bureaucrats who do not deliver.Say for example the IBN7 which on 16-12-2009, covered for 15 minutes on the inefficiencies of Power Ministry under the stewardship of Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde,so called Honorable Minister of Power, who bluntly denied having received internal note from PMO,although the note is available with Shri Gursewak Singh Brar of Patiala, and has been supplied by Power Ministry only under RTI.
Is Shinde not contributing to the ills of society at large and why Hindustan Times should not unmask working of Ministry of Power, when Tehelka,Newx and IBN7 have already covered a scam in Damoder Valley Corporation(DVC) and there is delay in positioning of Chairman both in DVC and Bhakra Beas Management Board(BBMB)?There is some similarity both in DVC & BBMB.and hence deliberate delay in posting Chairman.Imagine projects worth 30,000 crores are not only being delayed but have been awarded at a scam of 10,000 crores in DVC.
So is this greed of ..... not important to be covered?
by User_nail_photo Jassu9 9 months ago
I agree with @jassu9 !!

I am just another citizen of this country like you who may not be aware of all the problems as you say it @crusader.

Besides, to make your idea of having a "regular column for men's issue" is different from solving the legal imbalances of our society. You are trying to mix the two issues here. Am I right?

I was only trying to help you. Get more numbers to increase the strength of your idea. Strength in number of people supporting your view will take you miles.

Not fake email-ids which are so apparent as @rookie indicated. It's @#$% easy to crack this on internet. :)
by User_nail_photo Djohn 9 months ago
You agreeing is not my issue. As far as numbers are concerned, Save Indian Family Foundation has more than 30,000 members.

And when you talk of legal imbalances, that is exactly what needs to be addressed. Men do not have any legal protection available in marriage and family and it can only be created by creating awareness of men's issues and hence the column.

@jassu9

Those problems can also be solved through men's rights. Men's rights is a prominent need. Men in their lives do not have a choice and this leads to a lot of problems.

Expectations from men are skyrocketing in every sphere of life whereas acceptance levels are nosediving.

And by the way,

When was the last time you opposed so much to women's issue, the way you guys are opposing men's issues?

Clearly shows your bias and your male hatred.

Fake email id??

We have been talking about women and their problems on a daily basis for the last 60 years. There is no need to be apologetic to talk about men's issues. It is time to:

CELEBRATE BEING MALE!
HONOUR MEN IN YOUR LIFE!
DEMAND MEN’S WELFARE MINISTRY!
DEMAND TRUE GENDER EQUALITY!
SAY “NO” TO MALE BASHING!
DEMAND GENDER-NEUTRAL LAWS!
REALIZE MAN IS NOT AN ATM!
SAY “NO” TO STEROTYPING OF MEN!
STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN!
UNDERSTAND MEN TOO NEED LOVE AND CARE!
UNDERSTAND MEN TOO NEED PROTECTION!
STOP TREATING MEN AS UNPAID BODYGUARDS!
UNDERSTAND MARD KO BHI DARD HOTA HAI!
by User_nail_photo Uchalla 9 months ago
Welfare of boys and men has been seriously neglected in India over the last two decades. While proudly championing the cause of women’s rights and women’s empowerment, the government and society tacitly approved the propagation of anti-male sentiments, condoned the resultant diminution in value of men’s lives and supported blatant violation of men’s rights through discriminatory laws and policies.

It has to be noted that while men still perform some of the most risky and challenging jobs in the society, and while the Government of India collects 82% of its tax revenue from men, not a single rupee has been allocated in the name of men’s welfare in the country’s budget in the last 60 years.

The National Family Health Survey, conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, does not consider men’s health and welfare important. Enormous focus on women and children, and the mention of men only in relation to how they should contribute to the health and welfare of women and children, clearly indicates the apathy of the Government towards men.

The homepage of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) cites Vardhamana Mahavira, the sage of total non-violence, who said, “All beings are fond of themselves, they like pleasure, they hate pain, they shun destruction, they like life and want to live long. To all, life is dear; hence their life should be protected.” While Mahavira’s teachings seem to have inspired the Indian Government to assign a separate ministry to look after issues of Animal Welfare through AWBI, the same Government did not see any necessity to establish a Ministry for Men’s Welfare.

Several laws have been passed in the last 60 years in the name of protection of women and their empowerment. However, there are no laws to protect boys and men from any form of abuse or harassment within and outside the home. Men are being subjected to severe discrimination under law, and their basic human rights are being violated every day in the name of more and more legal provisions that claim to empower and protect women.

Thousands of men are becoming victims of “legal terrorism” unleashed through laws like Indian Penal Code Section 498A, Protection of Women Against Domestic Violence Act, adultery laws, laws against rape and sexual harassment, and even divorce, maintenance and child custody laws.

While society is applauding more and more women getting educated, entering the job market and challenging their traditional roles within the family and society, men are still being shackled to their traditional duties of protecting and providing for women, children and the aged.

The growing disregard and hatred against men in our society is forcing more than 56,000 Indian men to end their lives every year. According to statistics obtained from the National Crime Records Bureau, every year, twice as many married men, compared to women, commit suicides unable to withstand verbal, emotional, economic and physical abuse and legal harassment. Deaths of these men make for the brief stories we often read in newspapers stating that a certain man “killed himself due to family issues or financial problems”. While every death of a young married woman is converted into a case of dowry death leading to immediate arrest of the husband and in-laws, accompanied by media-hype, male-bashing and breast-beating, large-scale suicides of men do not cause any outrage in the society.

It is time to encourage public discussion on men's issues, and a special column for men's issues in HT will be a great initiative in this direction.
by User_nail_photo Uchalla 9 months ago
Right column on men certainly deserves a place in HT.I am convinced that this particular issue deserves attention of policymakers and media is the proper means to send the message of pains of harassed men, though we are a MCP society.

SAY “NO” TO MALE BASHING!

@jassu9 ... There was an allegation that all comments in favour to this issue was made by the same person(from different login ids), if u see the commentators in favour of this issue its more than 90% . If this was true the points would have been more than 500, even if the rest commentators(10%) had given negative points for this issue. Thats my point.

As for my view its already registered in my first comment, the only thing I wanted still to impress upon the readers was to defend the above baseless allegation, that there are no genuine numbers behind this idea.

In fact I had just seen a video which justifies the apathy from men themselves to this issue, about brainwashing effects, indirectly about the demoralising effect of false feminazi propoganda on the world at large - Subjects of such systematic brainwashing do not realise the truth "until the boot kicks their own backs" as this video("How To Brainwash A Nation": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeMZGGQ0ERk) explains
by User_nail_photo Gokulpr 9 months ago
@gokul it is so simple to explain any point of view.

Finally, my contri towards this idea is:

It is worth research and coverage by HT... The helping hand to men is as important as it is for anyone else.

Fortunately we have an early warning mechanism in place, the plight of males in the west!. We just have to see how men's rights are violated in western countries to see whats in the pipeline for India.

Some might think in the patriarchal India how can men's rights be at risk. If so they should see this video: "The Myth of Women's Oppression"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMzcMATRGmE

As Uma(uchalla) commented earlier there's nothing to be apologetic about standing up for men's rights, in fact its the need of the hour, with so many legislations already smothering men's rights.

Sexual harassment at workplace is the next time bomb in India after 498a IPC and Domestic Violence act, its just about explode on our faces(the delay is only because of the inherent pace/delay at which the know-how of its misuse spread among the misandry network!!!).

We need to address these Men's issues with all seriousness, and if HT can do it they will be the pioneers of this much needed aspect of social responsibility.
by User_nail_photo Gokulpr 9 months ago
After a long time I came back to this site.

It is a quite interesting concept that to make your 'idea' work, you got to gather participation and interest from others on the website too.

And that way really worth it and people friendly ideas reach popularity.

It's a pretty good job done by HT.

This idea was good. I Vote Up!

Talk about womens issue and you will hear an endless list , talk about mens issue and people draw a blank . India spends more than rs 75 Billion of Tax money on womens problems every year . How much ,money has the government contributed for men. More than twice the number of married men have been driven to suicide as compared to wives . This data is neither shared nor investigated by the government. The Home ministry said that they cannot change 498A because they are afraid of some women's organizations . So the mighty Indian home minister is afraid of these radical feminists. Is India a banana republic where the feminists call the shot always . We have heard of feminist lies , we need to her the truth now . Men have suffered long enough and now men have started to talk back and demand their rights .

MARRIED MEN in India have been reduced to second class citizens who are systematically discriminated against by the Indian Police, Indian government and the Indian Judicial system. Instead of being protected by the law, laws are used to harass Indian husbands.

Indian men contribute more than 80 per cent of the country’s taxes and have little or nothing spent on their welfare. The state systematically denies any rights in a married life and creates laws to purposely harass them in all ways possible. Thousands of crores are spent every year through various different channels on women’s programmes, little or nothing is being spent on welfare for men. The Government of India has a ministry for welfare of animals but has still not heeded to the requests for creation of a mens welfare ministry .

Laws in India are so biased against men that women who have never married in India or do not have children who are Indian citizens also come all the way to India to misuse Indian laws. Most marital laws are unconstitutional and go against articles 14, 15, 20 and 21 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees fundamental rights like right to equality before the law, special provision for weaker sections of the society, multiple trials for the same crimes and right to liberty. On one side, the government promotes that they are committed to eradicating dowry completely from India on the other hand they allow the exchange of dowry to go unabated. But once the exchange has happened, millions of husbands and their families are arrested without the slightest iota of evidence or investigation under the draconian section 498 A of the Anti Dowry act.

In terms of Alimony, Indian laws are no better. In the western world, there exist hard and fast rules for alimony for women. In most states in the US, alimony applies only when the marriage has completed 10 or more years . However, in India, men are forced into a ‘compromise’ against their will and are made to pay huge settlement amounts to women who have broken marriages, which have not even reached their first anniversary. Child custody remains with the mother all the time and the father gets visitation to the tune of one hour a month.

The less written about the newly created domestic violence act of 2005 the better. Better known as the property grabbing act of 2005, this act has been misused by the empowered women of India to grab the properties of husbands and their families. Misuse of the law also has reached epic proportion and now misuse of this law competes with misuse of section 498A, which according to government is misused in 98 per cent of cases .

The resulting consequence of the systematic torture of men in India has been catastrophic. More than 56000 married men commit suicide every year due to spousal as compared to only half that number of women. Even after the suicide of the husband, every attempt is made to make this death as a death due to unknown reasons and no punishment is ever meted out to the wife who was the responsible for the death. In fact the two main categories that men’s deaths are classified in the national crime records bureau are ‘Unknown reasons’ and ‘Other reasons’.

The cruel and deliberate attempts to subjugate the rights of husbands in India is deplorable and shows a very fascist attitude. The government must immediately amend the marital laws to make them gender neutral and then proceed to create a men’s welfare ministry and study and arrest the rising mens suicides in India before the situation goes out of hand .
by User_nail_photo Arnab221 9 months ago
Do you have any documents in support of "More than twice the number of married men have been driven to suicide as compared to wives . This data is neither shared nor investigated by the government. The Home ministry said that they cannot change 498A because they are afraid of some women's organizations"??

Mere statement of a woman is sufficient to get an entire family arrested(in case of IPC 498a, without investigation or evidence) or to throw a senior citizen(s) out of his/her own house(in case of Domestic Violence act).

In IPC 498a at least 2 women get arrested and drawn into an endless and traumatic litigation, so much so that 1.25 lakh women were arrested in just 4 years(2004 to 2007) as per government statistics(www.ncrb.nic.in).

See this video which explains it all
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcX-3bzmdjM

These issues are all pervasive, men's rights included.

Civil Appeal No. 5239 of 2002 /SC(excerpt of a Supreme Court Judgement)

. However, post-independence period has seen drastic changes in our value system. The materialism has over-shadowed the old ethos and the quest for personal gain has become so intense that those involved in litigation do no hesitate to take shelter of falsehood, misrepresentation and suppression of facts in the court proceedings. In last 40 years, a new creed of litigants has cropped up. Those who belong to this creed do not have any respect for truth. They shamelessly resort to falsehood and unethical means for achieving their goals. In order to meet the challenge posed by this new creed of litigants, the courts have, from time to time, evolved new rules and it is now well established that a litigant, who attempts to pollute the stream of justice or who touches the pure fountain of justice with tainted hands, is not entitled to any relief, interim or final.

Since men have taken the responsibility to protect and provide to family, society and nation they never express their problems. If sometimes they talk about their problems they are ridiculed. Since there is no forum to address problem of men they just keep inside them which adversely affect their health and well-being. Where there is numerous platforms, Govt agencies, NGOs, electronic media programs and exclusive magazines , columns in all the newspaper for women there is virtually nothing for men. If Hindustan Times takes this initiative it will be a great help to all men specially those who are in distress and have no one to turn to.

@rayes49,

I pity those who oppose me, for in reality they are opposing themselves. Heart in their heart, they know I am right, but since they have blindly supported women so far, its more a matter of self-confrontation than me convincing them.

What today's men lack is, "Freedom of choices". Moreover, forget today's men, even Adam did not have any choice. See this,

Eve: Adam, do you love me?
Adam: Who else?

What more could be a torture to a man, suspecting his love and fidelity with only one woman on earth?

It's about time the society wakes up to the reality and come out of the trance of feminism that's laid down by the media of our country.
It's time for the Indians to realize that Men are also Human Being, that have the right to make their own choices, without being ridiculed and harassed for making their own choices.

Nobody ridicules a woman if she makes a choice to leave her high-paying job and sit at home, then why ridicule a man for doing exactly the same?

Nobody feels offensive, if a woman abuses a man in public, then why a man is beaten black and blue if he even talks loudly to a woman?

Why is it that the Human-rights is ALWAYS equates with the women's rights? Aren't Men considered to be human enough to have any rights?

by User_nail_photo Pravingaikar 9 months ago
Its difficult to break false preconceived notions. There is a very false notion in our society, that husband is the no.1 villian, and a wife is a sati savitri. The fact is EMA's(Extra Marital Affairs) are on the rise, and with evil laws on her side, an Indian wife is one one of the most dangerous species.

Many morons find this idea appalling, I can understand that. It is not easy to seek truth, people are comfortable, in their false world. ON an average, there are more morons in any society, then smart people, and the smart people are the ones, who bear the brunt, of the stupidity of these morons. Even after presenting some very hard facts, there are people, who won't try to understand.

I'll switch to HT, if it supports this issue, and acts like an iconoclast.
by User_nail_photo San Vc 9 months ago
I personally feel HT must take a lead in projecting mens issues. Recognizing Men issues means Women and Men are treated at Par and not against each other

by User_nail_photo Madhup K 9 months ago
agree with praven & madhup. but the attitude of crusader is quite unacceptable. According to him: if someone agrees with him, is SMART and otherwise is a moron.

Such an attitude is not going to take his propaganda any further. And why would HT wanna sponsor such an eccentric bias of a small group even though the fact might be that men are treated irrationally.

What I mean to say is that with wrong attitude and angry retorts what you are saying is not gonna get any positive representation. Some of you need to keep your emotions in control and patience intact.

As Gokul pointed up somewhere, get your friends & friends of friends to support you with more and more voices & votes till a point it reaches the deaf ears. But never lose patience specially with people who might actually be trying to help you.
by User_nail_photo Recliner 9 months ago
Emotions in control?

Men are being discriminated against at all spheres and are still projected negatively everywhere and subjected to punishments and you want me to control.

Did you ask the women organizations to control when they broke chairs of the judge or Uma Bharati to control when she openly slapped a male colleague in public and later told it is her right to do so, did you control Renuka Choudhary for openly slapping a man in uniform in public, for calling all male politicians as male chauvinistic pigs, for making hate speeches like, "I will teach men what their mothers did not","Its time for men to suffer".

If not, then you have no right to impose conditions on me.

Have a look for yourself, what happens with boys on mere finger being pointed to by a girl

http://wcbstv.com/local/gang.attack.honor.2.1386340.html

Are women angels? Or they speak Gospel Truth?

Why are women kept at such a high pedestal when enough women criminals have been allowed to roam freely?

57000 husband killer wives are roaming freely and you want me to control my anger?

Let me see if you can control your anger when your brother commits suicide and his wife roams freely.

Is the pain of a mother/sister less when she loses a son/brother than when she loses a daughter/sister?

Lancet University's report says 3 times more men die in road accidents than women.

http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(09)60741-8/abstract

and still there is no media coverage on men's issues and continuously men are projected negatively in the media and subjected to pre-trial media punishment and you want me to control anger and then there are half-baked people who oppose regular columns on men's issues on the basis of their dreamworld fantasies without knowing the reality or even making an attempt to know the reality.

Stop preaching lectures, get real, wake up and see the actual reality how men have been fooled into becoming a FREE ATM MACHINE and UNPAID BODYGUARD.
by User_nail_photo Crusade Fighter 9 months ago
Yes awareness is the key, this is actually everyone's issue, its just that some may feel its too silly an issue, or some may feel its taboo, due to their deep seated social conditioning and ideas - Men make the law, so why would his rights be violated may be the question in their minds ... but observe your surroundings objectively, what do you see?.

Men being persecuted at the mere statements of women - false sexual harassment complaints in companies/police/courts(guys if you have links pls post it below, I remember a couple of cases where innocent males managed to be exonerated, like the Air force case where the woman was found faking sexual harassment)

Men being victimised by false rape cases(Madhur Bhandarkar and most probably Shiney Ahuja too, both in my assessment were cases of consensual sex at the most, which were conveniently contorted as rape later)

Men being denied of child access and or custody, even when being able and willing ro rear his children, and for no fault of his(any one who knows the family courts' bias against fathers won't need any more evidences, see: "Fatherless Society – The Feminist Utopia" - http://aimwa.in/fatherless-society-%E2%80%93-the-feminist-utopia or http://bit.ly/8ZSYkJ)

Men and their families including women, senior citizens and minor children being arrested at the mere unvalidted, un-investigated allegations by women(wives'), without any evidence to back these wild allegations.

The issue of Men's rights violation is a real one which has to be taken care NOW.

Moreover this issue of Men's rights is an all encompassing one.

The speaker is a Best-selling author and men's rights activist, Warren Farrell, giving an interview about his book, The Myth of Male Power.

A former director of the National Organisation for Women, Warren argues that society has been mislead by the feminist movement into perceiving women as victims of male oppression. He believes that the reverse is true; women have most of the rights and privileges whilst men are treated like 2nd-class citizens.

And this, from another pioneering writer of MRA, Glenn Sacks

Recorded for MensightMagazine.com at the 3rd Men's Equality Congress: Boys and the Boy Crisis in Washington, DC

Anti-male bias runs throughout the mainstream media and also, to a lesser extent, the conservative alternative media. The media provides a terribly stilted view of issues such as divorce and child support, domestic violence, child abuse, and men's and women's contributions to their families. Prominent examples include: media coverage of the Clara Harris 'Murder by Mercedes' Case; numerous child support enforcement publicity campaigns against so-called "deadbeat dads"; and the "lazy husband" myth currently being used to explain the decline of marriage.

498A was targeted at the dowry problem and its intent was to protect the dowry victims in the context of India society.
The problem is that the social context has changed dramatically since 1961 when the law was enacted.
Since 498A law has inbuilt assumption of guild on the accused placing the burden of proof on him, it needs to be now revisited 49 years down the line.
Enough cases of abuse have come to light. Also after 49 years of existence there are lessons learned that need to be incorporated to make the law relevant and just.

Great idea and much awaited. This will be a good forum to raise issues affecting men and probably a first step in making this society more gender neutral.

Why is the editorial team sleeping ? Why has this idea not been implemented yet.Looks like HT is a feminist news paper.
They have been exposed now .

I hv been on this forum for a long time and I have seen one of the HT moderators talking to readers and taking action too.

I guess they are planning to bring thousands of readers over here to vote up & down for whatever is posted. Or are they sleeping!! wake up wake up!! :x

There is a great myth (should we say untruth) that is spread by the well funded feminists that men are privileged section of the society and that men use that privilege and power to oppress women. Nothing is farther from the truth. Men in power (that 0.1% of the populace) have historically oppressed the rest of the society. None bore the brunt of that oppression from the 'men in power' more than the men themselves. In fact, the men bore more than their share of the pain to protect their women and children, often sacrificing their own lives. Such is the truth of men's sacrifices for their women. Now, the whole society is turned against men accusing them of all kinds of imaginary crimes and inflicting real and tangible punishments on them. At the same time, the men in power have exempted themselves from any of the consequences of all the illegitimate legislation they enacted. Arjun Singh, ND Tiwari are just tips of the iceberg. It is time responsible media like Hindustan Times give voice to these voiceless and victimized sections of the society.

HT, now act on this.. we need more focus on mens issues which r neglected and India must lead the way
by User_nail_photo Madhup K 8 months ago
Great idea. There is no doubt that we need to now consider with an open mind the need for issues of both women and men equally. If action is not taken now, very soon we will end up in a situation where it will be curse to have a male child in the family. If it happens so, the equilibrium will fall.

It is as easy as one false statement from one woman to torture the entire family which includes old grandmother, mother, sister, sister-in-law old grand father.

Excellent. It is the time for men's movement. Men are getting harassed by girls very badly by misusing the laws. Money minded Girl's parents are doing "BROKERING" business these days . Infact , girls are being raised by control freak mothers for failing false 498a cases ..etc
by User_nail_photo Fightonillegal 8 months ago
Excellent. Just value as drop in Oasis dessert. Men are getting harassed by women for various reasons by misusing the laws. I it continue, hindu marriage system will get damaged swiftly. Some Girl's parents are doing marriage as BROKERINg BUSINESS for money by using womens false cases.

by User_nail_photo Fightonillegal 8 months ago
This is very much required.... It is an excellent idea! We need a voice for men and HT has come forward. Suffering from irreparable damages caused by biased laws, all I can say is that this could be very well a game changer.....

Legal terrorism should be stopped. Mens silent cry should be exposed to the world. Since I'm one of the person who has badly affected without any reason. Presently I am unable to believe Justice system and Of course "Natural Justice" definitely will give punishment to them. Laws should be gender neutral. Definitely Mens Welfare Ministry and Mens rights need to be created now. Liars should be punished. Enough is enough now. Stop this nonsense and make some effort to spread this publicly

Draconian Laws: 498a, DV.
How many Real victims vs Falsely Accused Victims.
What about the old parents who have to go to Police station, Court days after days, months after months, years after years to prove they are innocent just because some greedy, lazy cunning daughter in law wants it all free and the best way to make money for her future , for her parents and for her lawyer for future entanglements.

Do you understand what we falsely accused Husband are going through?
You can't because maybe you, your brother, your sister , your parents, your cousin has NOT YET gone through this. Don't NEGLECT for your safe future.

Stop this idiotic laws .......I can't take it anymore, neither can my Parents, nor my siblings.....

Don't make me into a Hater! DOn't you dare call me a rebel to our Judicial system...because we can't take it any more....JUSt can't.

It is a reality and no wonder that Men and their family members are being harassed by the misuse of women biased laws like 498a and DV. These unscrupulous women are themselves criminal. Having a dedicated column will definitely bring more awareness in the society about the reality.
by User_nail_photo 498a Fighter 8 months ago
Well @vikku media is not supposed to work towards elimination of legal terrorism. Correct it yourself, instead.

Is this the way you guys think that media or anyone would ever support you?
by User_nail_photo Rookie 8 months ago
This is the time when HT should implement this idea. Media should have guts to speak and spread truth irrespective of sex, caste, religion or creed as is exposed in Ruchika's case, same and even worse atrocites are being done in INDIA against husbands, their mothers, their fathers, their sisters etc. since many years by police, judiciary or lawyers in the name of 498a, DV, 125, divorce child custody etc. But to the irony of fact media doesn't realizes this issue as important, which is rotting the basic roots of indian culture & society.
by User_nail_photo Htpard 8 months ago
@rookie

media is the important pillar of society and have responsibility towards stopping legal terrorism and other evils in the society.

you can avoid legal terrorsim but terrorism will never avoid you.

i will continue my fight for saving my nation whether media join me or not. i cant force you.

one of my friend got arrested with his mother, father, and sister in false 498a. media instead of supporting him just makes the headlines without checking genuinity of the case. he also lost his job.

if media try, these laws can be amended in couple of months. if i am wrong, then mention in the tomorrows newspaper that media cant bring change in the society.

http://www.hindustantimes.com/The-deepest-cut-of-all/H1-Article1-494947.aspx

I have never seen greater YELLOW JOURNALISM than this. Looks like Hindustan TImes has started allowing apprentices to write articles (which are hollow, anti-male, sans research) which influence the societies for all times to come.

On what basis do you say, the air-hostess was mercilessly beaten by her husband. It is next to impossible that an educated girl like that air-hostess would tolerate even a "joke" from her husband knowing well that the unconstitutional, anti-male laws and sex-hungry judiciary is out to castrate her husband at a small drop of crocodile tears from eyes.

Also, its a well known psychological fact that a woman commits suicide only when she is guilty of an unconfessed crime and never due to harassment. Yet our great lawmakers have made redundant laws like Section 498A, Section 304B and the Domestic Violence Act which only provide options to harass, extort and castrate men.

Why should a woman's statement be taken as evidence at all???

Let her prove. Why are you women so @#$% afraid of proving and always cry for more and more stringent laws rather than taking some responsibility.

DOWRY TORTURE is the biggest myth ever. There is nothing called DOWRY TORTURE. It just a means to harass innocent husbands and their family.

Till date the Government has failed in providing data that led to formulation of draconian and unconstitutional laws like Section 498A. How do we not believe that they have not been passed without sleeping around?

YELLOW JOURNALISTS like you are responsible for MEN'S PROBLEMS.

Hindustan Times is one of the worst newspapers out there. They are complete chelas of congress and have no quality in their news articles also. I stopped reading HT long time back, and thought this might be a hope.
by User_nail_photo Rookie about 1 month ago
Dis-balance of Indian laws is primarily because the whole Judiciary has been adopted from Britishers who designed this system to enslave Indians under them. Besides Indians do not allow creativity from its citizens and therefore no laws have been redesigned or balanced in past 60 years.

That said, I wouldn't be unhappy with what is available to Indians at disposal today. The chaos is going to push the country into unrest and probably some day when civil war breaks out, there will be uprooting of these political suckers from our land.

All of you on this thread are correct actually. The Government has slept for too long. They simply adopted (copy-paste) of British system and have continued for 60 years with minor changes to help themselves...:)

Everything needs to be revamped and this balancing of legal entities called men + women has to be brought in as well. Remember there ARE women who are subjected to harassment too!
