Road Dividers in Delhi should be covered with plants/bushes

Hi,

Whenever we are driving in the night time the bright light coming from the opposite side traffic makes us blind and its risky too as it can lead to accidents.

I feel all the road dividers should be covered with thick bushes, (although it is implemented on some roads)

1. It will absorb the glare and bright light of vehicle coming from opposite sides, thus saving our eyes and make driving comfortable

2. It will be a check for the people crossing the road from anywhere by showing a hand to running vehicles and putting own and other's life in danger.

I would request HT to help my suggestion reach appropriate authorities.

Thanks

Schedule of low floor buses in paper

Hi HT, Congratulations for your new look. Its working great.
My this suggestion is regarding the new low floor (Green and Red) buses in Delhi.
"Is it possible for HT to give the schedule/ Time table(if it exists) of low floor buses in newspaper so that we can plan our journey accordingly?"

They are very convenient and preferable over the private buses and Autos. But we rarely get a chance to catch them. If timetable is available, more people will travel in them and it will be boost the income of DTC also.

Crime-free City

Referring to the news "Ready for a Crime-free  City" in Today's HT(Sept.02,2009),

We welcome the idea and the efforts that Delhi police is taking to make the city crime free but in addition to increasing the no. of personnels, police stations, booths and posts, isn't it necessary to make more strict rules and laws so that criminals think twice before commiting crime. I was shocked to see that Anand Jon is punished with 59 years of imprisonment, I have never seen so long life term in India. The fines charged here are very-very less as compared to other countries , they should be elevated 10 times . I feel --> more strict the punishments-more people will follow the rules. And most important the citizens need to be more civilized to cooperate the police in making the city crime-free.
Dear Rookie, you mean to say that country wont move forward until such pictures are printed and women should wear beachwear/ swimwear to make our country proud??
Absolutely true@Sunil , that is the demand of the hour, I also insist that the laws should be made more strict and be implemented on all without any kind of discrimination. Then only we can dream of a Crime free city.

Although I think it is common sense what is decent and what is not, but of-course the news paper has the full authority to determine. I feel No family person will call such ads decent.
Well I agree with both sides , Ads are necessary to run the paper but Jyoti is also correct on her statement that a no. of ads contain pictures of women so that at least ladies cannot read the paper in public. You go ahead with Ads but make them decent with nice pictures.
We delhites have a soft corner for plants. I dont remember exactly but sometime back HT gave news that Delhi stood first in terms of greenery in a world wide survey. So cant we protect plants on the road dividers which are solving a purpose?? Protecting plants is a social responsibility after all.
Yes, and that road doesn't have many zebra crossings also so people keep on popping on the road from anywhere, if dividers are covered, then they will cross only from the space provided,
BTW the idea of reflective glasses also is not bad until we get any solution :)
This suggestion if implemented will be very effective. HT should publish it in the paper!
They are already charging prices double then what is set by the Govt.

Now, Autorikshaws are demanding for price hike.

Doesn't it sound weird??

Is there a single autorikshaw in delhi who is charging the nominal charges. Is anyone's meter running? They run away if u ask them to start meter. Nobody's stopping them from violating rules. I feel they have no right to ask for price hike until they themselves follow the rules and do their jobs with responsibility.

This is really shocking. A sting operation can be done by media to dig out the truth and get justise for our soldiers.
Thanks@djohn . Let's hope it gets implemented soon.

HT has taken initiative by inviting its readers to give useful suggestions. HT is listening to them and probably some suggestions are in-process.

The pictures you see on the right side of this blog are the moderators from HT.

HT is going to Rock if such thing happens:-)

This is the responsibility of media to act as mediator bet. the Govt. and the common man. I wish HT breaks its silence soon and starts interacting with the readers. Amen..
Great Idea! and we can also have small tips or the story of the cured patients in their own words.
Great!! You are keeping gud record of my proceedings here. Well, I voted positive bcoz I liked the suggestion, and after reading such long articles, I too felt the same "too long to read". So I gave the idea. Where's the contradiction??
Dear Arvind, u need to understand the purpose of this site. This is not a platform for essay writing. There is no point on arguing on the internet capacity. If somebody wants to write long articles there are n numbers of sites for that, u must be knowing better ne!
NO doubt HT is ahead of rest, but we are here to give suggestions to make it the best. We are not comparing HT with any other paper.
Great suggestion indeed! It reminded me of the same episode that happened when I was in Japan and we were having Dinner in an Indian restaurant and that restaurant had displayed a big portrait of Indian child marriage with small children (7-8yrs) as bride groom. There also we had an argument with the owner of restaurant that why you are displaying the weak part of your own country.

We Indians should promote our strengths to the world and not the weaknesses, I totally agree with Rakhi and Nalin, I hope HT considers this suggestion seriously.
Truely its a nice idea. We can never reach to minute points that children observe. They are great observers and sometimes have valid complaints. If such coulmn is started it will be very interesting...:)
